When it comes to precision on the floor, every millimeter counts. Face Consultants LTD specializes in the machining of concrete floors on which automated storage systems are later installed. For these systems to function smoothly, the floors must be to precisely defined tolerances.
To achieve this, the surfaces are sanded down at certain points or, in extreme cases, covered with a layer of screed. This inevitably creates dust, and this is where the challenge of measuring dust in real time begins.
Thanks to real-time dust measurement, it becomes clear how Dustlight makes precision work safer and more transparent.
The importance of dust prevention in active work areas
It becomes particularly challenging when floor processing takes place in ongoing logistics areas. Unpackaged goods are often handled there, for example in the food sector or in the mail order business when processing returns. Even small amounts of dust can become a problem here because they can affect product quality, hygiene regulations or the sensitive sensors of automated systems. One of Face Consultants' customers therefore insisted on special measures to prevent dust and on objective proof that the work was really being carried out with low dust levels.
To provide this proof, Face Consultants used Dustlight for the first time to directly display and document how much dust is actually in the air. During the work, movable dust protection tents were erected and the air was extracted from these tents using industrial vacuum cleaners. Dustlight provided the crucial data, visible and traceable.
Real-time instead of theory: Dust measurement with Dustlight
"We were able to show the customer live that Dustlight works perfectly. When we went into one of the work tents together, the display jumped from green to yellow to red and then back to green again when we walked out" - reports an employee of Face Consultants.
The Dustlight warning system is preset to the limit value of general dusts according to TRGS 900 and thus enables a reliable, objective assessment of dust exposure without having to wait for external measuring laboratories or complicated evaluations.
If you would like to find out more about the limit values and background to TRGS 900, you will find a detailed article below.
Trust arises when the measuring device makes results visible
The effect was immediate. The customer carried out parallel unannounced checks and Dustlight proved in real time that the dust protection measures were working. The visual display created trust. It was no longer about assessments, but about comprehensible facts. The team was able to show immediately how protective measures were working and the dialog between client and service provider became more transparent. The project was completed on time and without disrupting ongoing processes.
For Face Consultants, Dustlight was far more than just a measuring instrument. It has become a communication tool that creates trust - between service provider and customer, between occupational health and safety and quality assurance. What could previously only be proven by elaborate expert reports or subjective observations is now immediately visible, measurable and documentable.
Clean air made measurable: a new standard for dust control
In an industry where dust-free is increasingly required, Dustlight offers a real advantage: objectivity. For the first time, Face Consultants was able to prove in real time that sanding and screed work in sensitive environments was carried out virtually dust-free. This strengthened customer confidence, improved verifiability and made on-site communication easier and more credible.
Dust-free is no longer a promise, it is a measurable reality.
